Last but not least for this semester, it is my great pleasure to introduce this new face in the department. She’s one of our wonderful new editors here at Drown Unbound, and we don’t know what we’d do without her! Without further ado, introducing Mareesa Miles!
Laura Fitzpatrick: Hello Mareesa! Tell us about yourself!
Mareesa Miles: Hi! I am currently a master’s student exploring my way through the diverse periods of literary study with an idealistic and optimistic view of the world that I hope never to lose.
LF: Why did you choose Lehigh?
MM: Like the rest of the cohort I chose Lehigh based on the social justice focus in the department. It certainly proved a good choice! Literature has power yet to be awoken.
LF: What is your favorite book outside your field of study?
MM: Choosing a favorite book is very difficult. I guess I would have to say Frankenstein or The History of Love.
LF: What have you found valuable this semester?
MM: In two of my classes this semester there was a heavy focus on hope that fostered my vision of the place of the public humanities in society, and which I will carry with me as I move forward in my scholarship.
